Your cooperation is necessary in carefully following all the instructions below. This will allow us to provide you with the highest quality medical care, as well as expedite your procedure for your comfort.
Please read carefully your “Before Surgery Instructions” which are found in your consultation booklet. If you cannot locate this or are unclear, contact the office and ask that we email to you a duplicate of the Before Surgery Instructions. Also please call our office if you have any questions.
DO NOT TAKE ANY OF THE MEDICATIONS LISTED FOR 10 DAYS BEFORE YOUR SURGERY. These medications may cause excessive bleeding. Please note that the list includes over-the-counter drugs such as Aspirin, Motrin and Advil. Any and all anti-inflammatory medicines, whether they are on the list or not, should not be taken. We also request that you not take any bodybuilding amino acid preparations, nutritional supplements or vitamins one week prior to surgery. ALCOHOL consumption also needs to be limited to one per day, and no alcohol 3 days before surgery. If you use ROGAINE, do not use it for one day before surgery.
Medication Warnings
Do not take any of the medications listed for 10 days before your surgery. These medications may cause excessive bleeding.

Please do not take vitamins or protein supplements in the week before each procedure.
We also advise discontinuing the use of Rogaine one day before and two weeks after your procedure.

Day of Surgery
Specific instruction for you.
Plan not to work the day of surgery and at least the next two days.
Shampoo your hair the night before and morning of surgery with Head and Shoulders (oily hair formula).
Shampoo twice. Rub your scalp vigorously while shampooing.
Do not put anything on your hair after shampooing
Eat a good breakfast or lunch before arriving. Do not fast.
Arrive at the office about 15 minutes before your surgery appointment.
Medications
If you were given prescriptions in advance, bring them with you and use as directed. If not, we will have the prescriptions delivered to our office the day of your surgery or phoned into your HMO or pharmacy. Best is to have them delivered by our local pharmacy so you do not have to wait after surgery.
Other Comments
Sleep elevated the first few nights to prevent swelling.
Couvre & Dermatch are scalp masking covers. You may order Couvre by calling 1-800-844-2536. (Useful if you will be on camera.)
You will also need to have stitches removed in approximately 10-16 days at our office, or by your local physician.
The Hair Transplant procedure will result in crusts on your head for 5-14 days – usually 6. See photos of crusts in our Photo Library.
